Oh, The Places Soccer Takes You: Korbyn Kottwitz’s European Adventure

For many, soccer is simply a sport. But for those who play the game with passion, it’s a vehicle— one that drives them to new places, new friendships, and life-changing experiences.

This week, Washington Soccer Academy’s very own Korbyn Kottwitz is embarking on an unforgettable journey to Germany and Holland where he’ll train, compete, and immerse himself in the culture of European soccer with the Missouri Olympic Development Program and WorldStrides.

But what makes this trip even more special is how it came to fruition. Korbyn didn’t just dream about this opportunity, he built it — literally.

Through sheer determination and hard work, he raised over $3,500 by designing, building, marketing, selling, and delivering custom cornhole sets to local businesses and contacts. His commitment to making this trip happen is a testament to his character, both on and off the field.

For the next 10 days, Korbyn and his mother, Erin, will visit Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Amsterdam. They’ll train with new coaches, play friendlies against international teams, and experience the world beyond the pitch. But more than anything, they’ll create memories—ones filled with new friends, new experiences, and new cultures.

At WSA, we believe that soccer is more than just a game. It’s a bridge to opportunities that shape young athletes into world citizens. And as Korbyn steps onto the field in a new country, we know this is just the beginning of his journey.

Safe travels, Korbyn & Erin! We can’t wait to hear all about the places soccer takes you.
